Psychotherapy, psychoanalysis & couples therapy.
Individual psychotherapy
You may already have a convincing explanation for why you struggle and still find yourself feeling or behaving in familiar, painful ways.
In therapy, we explore these difficulties through the experiences, memories, thoughts, and feelings you bring to our conversations. You are encouraged to say what comes to mind, including things that seem unrelated, uncomfortable, or hard to make sense of. Over time, this work can help loosen the hold of longstanding difficulties and open possibilities that previously felt unavailable.
Psychoanalysis
Psychoanalysis offers more frequent sessions and sustained attention to your inner life. The work includes speaking as freely as possible about thoughts, memories, dreams, wishes, and feelings—including those you might ordinarily dismiss or keep to yourself.
This gives us time to explore persistent difficulties in depth and to work toward changes in how you experience yourself, your relationships, and your life.
Couples therapy
Couples therapy provides a place to slow down familiar arguments and speak about what each person experiences, wants, fears, and finds difficult to say. We examine assumptions about one another and pay attention to what happens between you during our meetings. The work aims to make different ways of responding to each other possible.
LGBTQ+ psychotherapy
I have extensive experience working with gay men and other LGBTQ+ patients. Sometimes sexuality or gender is central to what brings someone to therapy; often it is not.
